Welcome to the River Drau cycle pathThe Drau cycle path is 366 km long and runs from the source of the Drau or Drava near Dobbiaco/Toblach in Italy along the river through Austria’s East Tyrol and Carinthia to Maribor/Marburg in Slovenia. In the medium term, there are also plans to extend it all the way from Maribor to the Black Sea. Bearing the international designation R1, the Drau cycle path is also the number one in Europe in terms of scenic beauty and cultural diversity along its route. If you want to do the whole trail, you should allow four to seven days, depending on your group, level of fitness and how interested you are in the many sights and attractions on the way. On this website we hope to give you an overview of what there is to see and do along the Drau cycle path. The various local tourist organisations have provided details of restaurants, sights, bike rentals, etc. on or near the route, which will help you to plan your trip. Covering four provinces and three countries, the website also aims to promote understanding between people and regions. Instead of dwelling on the differences, it focuses on what they all have in common: the River Drau and an interest in cycling. We hope you have fun browsing and reading the other pages. And perhaps it will be an inspiration for you to come here and at least do part if not the whole Drau cycle path. ![]()
